The interviewer will be curious about your start in the field and what physical therapy career goals you might have for yourself. Of course, questions can always be challenging, such as why did you leave your current job? Or how do you handle a difficult patient? Consider the rehab interviewer’s possible questions and prepare yourself for them.

Next, it is time for you to ask questions, so have a list prepared. Having questions ready makes you look interested, enthusiastic and engaged. It is also an excellent time to highlight your qualities and experience as a therapist.
Mentorship
If you are a new graduate looking to get into rehab, you are probably interested in mentorship. Ask about this. Some clinics offer structured mentorship programs off the schedule for time to reflect and discuss patient care.
Compensation Package
You can ask about money. PT is a job and asking is perfectly acceptable. Ask about benefits. Is there a bonus structure at the clinic? What type of bonus structure and how often are the bonus goals met? Be sure to read the bonus requirements. Does the rehab facility offer medical and dental insurance? Are they paying the premiums in full, or are you expected to pay a portion? If there is a 401(k) matching plan, when will you be eligible, and what is the matching percentage? Is money offered for continuing education? How much PTO? Do you get it immediately? Do they lump in sick time?
Expectations
Let your employer tell you what traits and skills are needed to be successful at the rehab clinic. Productivity is a continuous measurement of units per day or patients per day. How often will you be expected to transition from one patient to the next? Ask about double bookings and if so, how often?
Clinics are a business and need to see patients to make money. Knowing the number of patients you will be responsible for visiting in a typical shift can give you an idea of your expectations as a therapist. You certainly want to be sure you will not be overworked or burned out.
Culture
The culture of a clinic is an essential consideration. Benefits and salary will probably not be enough if the culture is terrible! Perhaps the best way to glimpse the culture of a possible workplace is to sit down with potential future co-workers if possible. What is the vibe? Ask questions and observe typical workings at the clinic.
